1,000 Places To See Before You Die: A Traveler’s Life List, by Patricia Schultz, was a surprise New York Times #1 bestseller. It’s not hard to see why. Almost 1,000 pages in length, this book is chock-ful of destinations-famous and not-that can provide a traveler’s “to do” list for…well, a lifetime.
The book is organized by geographic areas: Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Island, the US and Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean, Bahamas and Bermuda, and then further subdivided into countries, states, etc. Special indexes in the back of the book further categorize these “must-sees” into lists such as active travel and adventure; ancient worlds; culinary experiences; festivals and special events; great hotels and resorts; and many others.
Each entry is only a few hundred words long and includes a description of the place, event, etc., and pertinent information such as what; where; cost; and so on.
This is a treat for travel writers and travelers in general. See how many of the 1,000 places you’ve visited!
