Karen Toussaint is a Maryland-based freelance travel and feature writer who likes to write about unusual people and places. Husband Jim Riddell travels with her, soaking up information and supplementing her photos.

Her motto is: If you can’t have a little fun doing what you’re doing, you’re doing the wrong thing. She’s been around the block a few times, but likes to think that she hasn’t lost her appreciation for the world and its variety.

For 20 years, she has written for Homestead Publishing’s newspapers in Harford County, Maryland: The Aegis, The Record and The Weekender. Her articles have also appeared in The Baltimore Sun.
